Nail Polish: New Additions

My nail polish collection is ever expending and my latest additions are five drugstore polishes, three of which I picked up at a reduced price in Asda. I probably have more Barry M polishes than any other brand but recently I've been drawn to Rimmel.

Funtime Fuchsia and Loafer Love For You are two of Rimmel's 60 second drying polishes and for once they actually do dry very quickly. More than that, one coat is enough for a solid colour so they're absolutely perfect if you're in a rush.

I'm not sure how I feel about Atlantis. I think it looks gorgeous in the bottle but I'm not sure how I'd wear it. The pieces of glitter paint very sporadically and the mix of colours leaves me wondering what polish to pair with it. Maybe I'm just lacking inspiration and need to think outside the box so if you've used it before let me know how you wear it.

Socialite is one of my new favourites. Just look at it! It screams girly and I can imagine wearing it with a gorgeous gel effect topcoat on top. I think it needed about three coats to become opaque but it's worth the effort, trust me.

Disco ball was one of the reduced polishes I picked up and although I love the addition of small silver stars I'd never considered buying it until now. The stars are a nightmare to pick up on the brush so a little patience is required but I think this will look beautiful on a night out or maybe as part of a New Year's Eve mani (yes I do think ahead haha).

Loves Me, Loves Me Not | Yankee Candle Review

The UK is well and truly in spring right now and you know what that means? Floral scented candles! A couple of weeks ago I went on the hunt for some springtime scents that would give that spring clean feel to my room. As is standard on a Yankee Candle shopping trip, I smelt my fair share of candles before settling on a small jar of Loves Me, Loves Me Not.

This subtle scent reminds me of being in primary school, on the first day of the year the weather is deemed nice enough for you to play on the field. It brought back the nostalgia of making daisy chains on freshly cut grass and trying not to show off your knickers whilst doing kick ass handstands and cartwheels (they weren't kick ass, they were hopeless but in my mind I was a gymnast).

This daisy scented candle is strong enough to fill your room but not so overpowering that it fills the whole house and fulfils that freshly spring cleaned scent I was looking for. With a burn time of 25-40 hours the small jar is well worth the money and is currently on offer for £5.59 on the YC website here.

Glitter Cascade Mani

This nail design is by far my favourite. It's perfect for a prom, wedding or even a night out with the girls. This is my go-to last minute mani for when I want my nails to look perfect but don't have the time. I always get compliments on this look and quite often people think I've been to the salon and had them done professionally.

All you need is a pink french polish and a glitter polish of your choice. Here I used Essie's Mademoiselle and Barry M's Diamond Glitter. I think it looks best when the glitter pieces are different sizes but choose what goes best with your outfit and work with what you've got.

Apply two coats of your french polish and once dry take your glitter polish and without wiping off the excess, apply it to only the top of your nail. For a rough guide I apply to the whites of my nail but this will differ depending on the length so have a practice and go with what looks right. 

After a few seconds, being to drag the excess glitter down your nail, towards your cuticle. Only apply a light pressure and take it no more than half way down the nail. This will give the elegant illusion of the glitter cascading down the nail. Once dry, finish with a high shine topcoat et voila!
