Birthday Wish List: Entertainment

I always appreciate a voucher I can spend at HMV or a book shop. There's currently lots of DVDs on my 'to buy' list including lots of Disney films we used to own on VHS but never quite made the transition and box sets of my most loved series.

1. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. - My desire for this book is entirely down to tumblr. I've read so many quotes and seen so many softly edited photos of this on bedside tables and bookshelves alike that I waited and waited for it to be released in the UK. All I know so far is that the main character is a shy girl who feels much more comfortable within the confines of the online world than in person.

2. Arctic Monkeys 'AM' on vinyl. - I mentioned in my homeware post here that I wanted to display my most loved vinyls on the feature wall in my bedroom. AM is one of my favourite albums of the past decade so whilst the vinyl sat in the record player I'd like to display the sleeve in the frame.

3. Frozen soundtrack. - If you haven't yet seen frozen you're definitely missing out. Although I've gotta be honest and say I much prefer Tangled, the soundtrack to Frozen is unbelievable. Idina Menzel: just wow! I like it so much that I'm more concerned about getting the soundtrack than the film when it's finally released next month. Sings *Here I stand aaaand here I'll stay.. let the storm rage onnnnn*

4. DAB radio & docking station. - For years I've loved the look of the vintage style DAB radios with Cath Kidston-esque print but always thought they were a little too pricey (despite the fact I spend hours listening to the radio each day).Having written them off I somehow stumbled across this one on amazon that includes a docking station and is a bargain £69! I love colour and the style. It's perfect :)

5. New Girl series 1&2. - *Who's that girl?? IT'S JESS* I'm the biggest Zooey Deschanel fan and so New Girl is the sitcom of my dreams. Funny quirky girl hangs out with strange boys and inevitably falls madly in love with one. I've watched the series over and over on Netflix but when I love something so much I think it's only right that I have it on DVD too. I must admit, I've had mixed feelings about season three but I'm sticking with it.

What's on your wish list lately? Are there any film/book/tv recommendations you have for me? If you'd like to see the rest of my birthday wish list posts you can do so here.

Pretty Little Liars finale: Hannah Marin's best one liners

So, today is PLL season 4 finale day. A day I've been waiting for ever since seeing the title of the episode is 'A is for Answers'. Do I think we'll get answers? No. Or at least not the kind everybody wants. All I'm hoping for from the show that's had me gripped since season 1 is to find out what's going on with Mrs D, to see a young Fitz in some flashbacks and of course a dose of Hannah Marin's one liners for good measure.

I spoke about my love for PLL in the tag here and without a doubt Hannah is my favourite of all the characters. Her one liners have me in stitches and so to celebrate the end of another amazing series, here are my favourites..

So there you have it, my favourite Hannah-isms. A few weeks ago I even tweeted about how much I loved them and did a little fan girl squeal when Ashley Benson herself tweeted me back.

Do you have a favourite Hannah quote? Or maybe you have a different fave on the show? If you've posted the PLL Tag please leave your links, I'd love to read them and see what you think of the show

Kisses,

Birthday Wish List: Fashion

1. Moon pendant necklace. - Lately my jewellery box (read shelf) is full of chunky statement pieces which is all well and good until I want to go for a simple understated look. This moon necklace is a simple, pretty go-to piece and not to mention an absolute bargain.

2. Blue cropped knitted jumper. - Perfect for spring, this will fit easily into my wardrobe. I'd wear it  on top of a monochrome polka dot blouse or on its own with some high-waisted jeans.

3. Toy Story Pjymamas. - Is it just me or is there a serious lack of Adult Disney/Pixar PJs from anywhere other than Primark. Even the Disney shop itself has a poor offering for us 'grown-ups'. Toy Story is my favourite Disney movie of all time and I've been looking for PJs (and a double bed cover) for so long! Finally Topshop have answered my prayers albeit with  a little hefty price tag for something I'll just wear indoors. Go to uni in you Pyjamas day anybody?!

4. LA mix tee. - I've fallen in love with so many on these American style jersey T's from Primark but so has everybody else and I see people wearing them everywhere. I saw this Project Social one in Topshop and kind of have my heart set on it now.

5. Acid wash skinny jeans. - For the longest time I've been trying to find the perfect acid wash skinny jeans or jeggings and definitely wasn't expecting to stumble across them in Asda! George's offering aren't quite as high waisted as I'd like but other than that they're perfect and for £14 I need them in my life!

6. White Chelsea cut-out boots. -Monochrome heels weren't ever something I thought I'd want. Especially ones that are predominantly white. I saw these online during one of my 'fill the shopping basket with things you love and then empty it and cry about how poor you are' sessions (I'm not the only one who does this right?!) and before I knew it I'd fallen in love and a hoard of outfit ideas were springing into mind. Now I haven't seen them in real life and when I do my opinion could change massively but for now they shall remain on my wish list.

What's currently on your wish list? Do you like anything on mine? If you haven't seen my previous birthday wish list posts you can view them all here.

Birthday Wish List: Homeware

I've been in the process of redesigning my bedroom for so long now but living half at home and half at uni makes it almost impossible to do it in a reasonable length of time. For my birthday I've picked out a few things I'd either like to receive, buy with my birthday money or treat myself to.

1. Record frame. - As part of my photo feature wall I'd use this to display my favourite vinyl records. You can end up paying a pretty penny for these frames but I managed to source this one for less than £2. Bargain!

2. Pink flamingo cushion. - My walls are cream and blue so any accent of pink in my room really pops. This cushion is from Fearne Cotton's homeware range on very.co.uk, it's definitely a range worth looking at if you're in the market for some new homeware.

3. Rob Ryan notebook. - Rob Ryan is my favourite artist. His ability to combine delicate laser cut with the most beautiful of words never fails to astound me. I already own a purse, mugs and calendar with his print on and I even own an original laser cut out but despite admiring them for years I've never owned a notebook. Now i'm trying to blog more this would be perfect for making notes and would sit very pretty on my desk.

4. Acrylic nail polish display. - Currently my go-to nail polishes sit in a line on  my desk and get changed around with each season that passes. Trouble is, I have so many that it's beginning to look a little untidy. This display would be the perfect way to organise them.

5. Bunny cake yankee candle. - Bunny + cake? Erm yes please! This sweet vanilla and coconut scent isn't too overpowering and the colour will look stunning in my room. It's part of their Easter range so I hope to get it whilst I can

6. Bunny tea light holder. - Also from the Yankee Candle Easter range, this adorable tea light holder would look perfect in my room all year round.

What's on your wish list lately? Do you have a favourite from mine? If you'd like to see the rest of my birthday wish lists you can do so here.

Spring Nails | Mint & Glitter

Three cheers for spring *wheeeeey*!
It feels so long ago that I last saw some sunshine and felt the warmth of it on my skin but alas, spring is here and a couple of weeks earlier than it's official due date buy hey, who's complaining?!

For me, spring means packing away my thick coats and jumpers and rummaging through last year's spring attire to see what pieces make the cut for this s/s season and what can be sold or donated.

Similarly, I do the same with my nail polish and last weekend I stored away all the autumnal tones of berry and forest green and on my desk currently sits an array of pretty pastel shades and a few glitter polishes for good measure.

For the first spring manicure of the month I used two of my favourite Barry M polishes. Mint Green graced my nails with Diamond Glitter on for my accent nail. glitter accent nails are my favourite FYI. This pretty mani eased me into the first week of spring feeling all pretty.

What's your favourite thing about spring? Do you have any favourite spring polishes? I'd love to hear them :)

Blog update.

Well hello there :) I thought I'd write a bit of a chatty post just to draw you attention to a few changes on this little blog of mine. As I'm pretty new to this whole thing the design of blogs baffles me somewhat but I've spent the week googling tutorial posts and searching for tips and tricks to improve the aesthetics of my blog.

Firstly I changed colour scheme and header. I wanted something a little brighter for spring but kept it clean and minimalistic. Busyness makes my eyes hurt. As I made my blog wider I made the text bigger and this I need your opinion about. Too big? Better? See there's quite a big difference between the two sizes and my eyesight is errm.. not the best. Let me know what you think :)

I created an About Me, Contact & Regular Reads page. I thought the about me would be useful for new visitors which I'm getting lots more of now according to goggle analytics. It also features some cringeworthy selfies so you can get to know the face behind this blog. Although I don't particularly like them, I'm happy to have them tucked away on that page rather than scaring readers on the main page.

I'm yet to get to grips with making my own social media buttons (think I'll leave that for a month or two) so the contact me has all my social media sites listed in one place. I'm trying to be much more active on social media and always follow back so feel free to take a look.

Finally, I LOVE reading people's Blogroll/Favourite Blogs page and so decided to make my own. I've found some of my favourite blogs that way. I'm not quite sure how to organise it though. At the moment there's not a long list but as I add to it I may categorise them, just for ease of use.

I'm fairly happy with the final result and I hope to continue to improve it as my preferences change and my skills develop. Any feedback, tips or recommended posts that might help are extremely welcome.

Happy Sunday,

Birthday Wish List: Beauty

Hip hip hooray! It's nearly my Birthday! In two weeks and two days I'll be celebrating my birthday with family, friends, lots of food and undoubtedly lots of wine! I thought I'd share with you what's on my wishlist so here's the beauty bits I'm hoping to get my hands.

1. L'oreal Paris Miss Manga Mascara. I've tried countless different mascaras but never bought the same one twice because I haven't yet fallen in love. The adverts for this mascara promise volume with a brush that works its magic on upper and lower lashes.

2. Barry M Silk Collection - Blue Mist. After first hearing about these on Barry M's facebook page I've been desperate to get my hands on them but I've been on a little spending ban. I've now read countless reviews and there's a few colours I have my eye on. Blue Mist seems perfect for spring and I don't have another colour quite like it in my collection.

3. Models Own Hypergel Nail Polish - Lilac Sheen. Another colour to add to my spring collection, I love the gel effect and the professional finish it gives to the at home mani.

4. Revlon Matte Lipstick - Pink pout. When it comes to lipstick I must admit I'm not so adventurous. This colour is right up my street and I've heard it's a great dupe for Mac Snob.

5. Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer. I've never ventured further than Collection's infamous offering that everybody seems to love but lately I've been looking for something different. I'm impressed with all of the S&G make up I've tried so far and I hope it stays that way.

6. Estee Lauder Eu De Parfum - Modern Muse. Around Christmas time I had a free sample and fell completely in love with this fragrance. I'm terrible at describing scents so I won't even try but it's worth a sniff if you're at the perfume counter.

I'd love to know what's on your wish list lately. Have you tried any of these products?

Pretty Little Liars Tag

Ever since i discovered the wonders of US Netflix over the summer I've been obsessed with Pretty Little Liars. It took me about four weeks to catch up now I'm watching it each week as the episode is aired in the UK. After seeing this tag on Kirstie's blog here I couldn't resist giving it a go myself.

1)Alison made her return to rosewood in her statement red coat. What is your wardrobe statement piece? Anybody who sees me on a day to day basis will tell you it's my leather jacket. My current choice is a black, cropped piece from Zara and I am in love with it!

2) If you could raid anyone's wardrobe who's would it be? Probably Emily's. Of all the Liar's styles I find hers more wearable. Her look is very relaxed, recently with a slight rocky edge. In real life though I love Ashley Benson's style, she's one of my style icons for sure.

3) Which cast member would you go to if you had a problem? Again I'd have to say Emily. She's the most caring and least judgemental of the Liars. Although Spencer could probably solve any problem I think she might interfere that little bit too much.

4) Which character's personality do you think you most relate to? I'll have to decide this by process of elimination. I am neither as intelligent nor controlling as Spencer. I'm let ditsy than Hannah although in recent episode's she showed she's capable working things out alone. I find Aria a little hasty and immature so It would have to be Emily AGAIN! Although I don't share her love of all things sporty, I'm definitely laid back and keep my calm like she does. I'd like to think people though I was as caring as her too.

5) Which of the character's makeup would you most like to wear? Hannah Marin! I love her hair and makeup, not an episode goes by that she doesn't make me want to go blonde. Her eye make up is always perfect to make her blue eyes pop.

6) Which of the cast would you feel safest with when stuck in an A situation? Spencer! She's intelligent and physically able to escape A. I genuinely think she could outwit A if he/she was working alone.

I absolutely love this show so if any of you do too I'd love to hear your A theories.

Pick of the 'packs

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

I'm on the hunt for a new backpack to see me through S/S14 and if you are too then look no further.

I love the less traditional shapes of Zara's offering and New Look's minimalistic beige bag. Although I'm a fan of a more pockets to store my endless supply of pointless things I lugg around, fewer pockets give a more sophisticated, sleek look.

Pastel are back baby! Well, actually the never really left but you know what I mean. Zatchel definitely tops the list with their range of pastel backpacks but Accessorize's powder blue offering with pockets galore and exposed zips is a more purse friendly option.

For a fun, relaxed look, nautical stripes are perfect for days at the seaside with friends with floral print as a great alternative for girly girls.

Which is your favourite?
